This week for our 20% projects we all know it has been easier to get stuff out work and process what we’re doing, for my project, as you know I’m doing ASL. This past week I found that working outside helps me to focus more and use my time digitally, letting me get what I need done. Last week I found out that I would be given my trifold to work on the following Friday. Now knowing that I can prepare all the terms, pictures, and more to apply to my trifold. This makes me feel like I’m getting back on track with my project, the last couple weeks there hasn’t been anything I’m struggling with but remembering some terms is a little bit of a set back sometimes, otherwise I feel confident with that I’m doing. If I ever finish my goal early I help my teacher with the garden along with Jedd. So overall I’m having a lot of fun with this project.
ASL: week #3
For the twenty percent project this week I went over some of last weeks things including, ABC’s, “Hi my name is”, “How are you?”, along with “what’s your name?”. I think my project is going fairly good, I didn’t have a lot to do because I am looking to start my trifold on week four. Hopefully that is one of the things I can move on to get done, if I’m not able to do that I will gather photos and hopefully make a layout of how I want the trifold to look. So overall I feel pretty confident in my goals but there is a possibility of me falling behind, that won’t happen as long as I stay on track to my goals. Hopefully in the next two weeks If I can get my trifold it will definitely set me ahead of my goals which would definitely help me for the next couple weeks.
ASL: week #4
As stated in last weeks blogs I was looking forward to getting a trifold to work on, sadly I did not get that this week. So as I stated I had to do my back up plan or plan B, I drew the set up of how I want the trifold to look when I was done working on it. The main parts on it where the title along with photos and more. For next week I will bring pre-printed photos to glue on the trifold and put the title on it. If I have more time I will help one of my other friends with his project, along with finding and learning more basics that can be used in an everyday sentence. So this week I would say I did not fully meat my main goal but I did get what I needed done so I can continue next week, it was a small setback but it did let me get more organized.
My Favorite Room
The blog prompt for this week was to choose between your favorite room in your house or the things that make a good neighbor. I found it more interesting to explain my favorite room of my house. A lot of people’s favorite room of their house is their room and that would have to be mine too. My room is set up as followed: two beds against the entrance wall because I used to share a room with my sister, a dresser in front of the beds my desk and a large seven foot shelf next to the desk. It’s my favorite room because it’s my safe space, I can be in there to get away from my family when I need to and it’s just a calm room where I can relax.
Rad Reading – March
For the month of March I decidedto read a book called, Home is Not a Country by: Safia Elhillo. The overall plot of this story is made to surround a Muslim American girl named Nima, who got bullied at her school for being “different” because of her illness. She soon misses her homeland realizing she has an alter ego that opens up to show her amazing personality, it’s a mind opening book with lots of emotions, ups and downs. This book should definitely be on your list.
Overall there were many good lines and quotes in this book that had a lot of meaning, but my favorite was, “I want him to know I am not lonely, I have ghosts, I have my illnesses, I have a mouthful of half-languages, & blood thick with medications, doctors line up to hear my crooked heart…” This to me shows how strong Nima was. How she embraced her illness and never let it stop her. That line is what made me love this book even more, I enjoyed how this book gives both a good and bad twist on things and shows both sides of life, it’s an amazing adventure.
Aisha, Nima’s mother had to be one of my favorite characters in this book. Her mother was an immigrant from Sudan, this shows how hard she worked to get to American and support her daughter. Her mother played a big role in Nima’s life. She was a fighter even when she felt like he couldn’t fight anymore. Her main character trait was coming from her dancing side, being artistic. Her mother was a very good dancer and she always loved it’s flow and movement and wanted to peruse it as a career but decided to raise her daughter.
ASL: week #2
This Friday we were also given time in class to work, I was not able to attend this work time due to a trip. But on my plane I was able to recite the things I learned from the previous week which were, ABCs, spelling my name, and learning the simple sentence of, “Hi, my name is destiny.” Continuing on after the plane ride I was in the airport with one of my friends waiting for our rental car, which gave me time to practice. During which I learned to say, “how are you?” Along with, “what’s your name?” I would like to get more done on Friday Apr, 20 week 3 of ASL including the things I learned using my own time on the plane and at the airport. The only struggle was finding time to fit in my ASL, next time I will plan it more diligently so I actually have time. Overall I think I did get a decent amount done but it was not my goal I was hoping to reach so I will be working harder this Friday to fit in more sighns to learn.
ASL: week #1
In my core class we are doing something called 20% projects, during this time you are given Fridays to work on your chosen project. For my 20% project I chose ASL. The goal I tried to reach was to understand the basics like: my name is Destiny, hi, how are you, etc. During the time that was provided for us in class I learned the ABCs and numbers. The only struggle I had, was remembering how to spell certain words and the letter G, W, and F. For next week my goal is to attempt to spell words and find a way to make some sentences. So overall I am pretty confident that I met my goal!
hi my name is destiny and I like to blog for fun and in my for time I do lacrosse. And something that I did this week was watch foothills lacrosse game, they won by 11 points yahoo lol have a great day!
Dinner Dinner Dinner
If you were planing a dinner who would you invite, you have three options. For my dinner I would invite some of my friends including: Minji, Ava, Camdyn, and Noah. Minji is one of my school friends and I plays lacrosse with her, I would invite her because she’s always making everyone laugh and we would all have a good time, Ava I would of course invite because we always have fun conversations and we all enjoy hanging out. Camdyn would definitely be one of my options because she is so sweet and gets along with everyone. Last but certainly not least. Noah, I would invite Noah because he is always in a goofy mood and always is funny when he gets bursts of energy. Sounds like a fun dinner to me!
I almost forgot, this dinner would take place at one of my favorite places, Little sister. It is a family style restaurant and their food is absolutely amazing! Maybe I should bring this dinner to life!
Break Fun
My spring break was not as eventful as I thought, but it was still a lot of fun. One of the things I did do was go up to the mountains with one of my friends. Soon after that, I had a sleepover with her, we didn’t sleep… the following two days my mom had had invited her cousin cousin and her baby to spend a couple hours at our house. She was adorable. On Sunday we went to a horse racing birthday party for the whole day. All the horses were gorgeous, and the venue was amazing. I enjoyed my spring break even though I didn’t do a lot, I had lots of fun!
Invisible?
Long story short I’m now invisible, thanks to my friend Ivy. She made me these cookies and turns out there was this weird serum in it, luckily it only lasts twenty four hours. Now to decide what I would do, first with good reasoning I would prank and scare my friends. Especially Ivy. It would be so fun to throw flour at them or pie them in the faces just for fun, secondly I would buy a whole lot of jolly ranchers and sour patch kids of course. Because who doesn’t need that, plus they are one of my favorite candies. The third thing I would do is all my tests and quizzes early, my teachers wouldn’t know obviously because she they see me doing them.
lastly I would walk around with something in my had around a shopping center to see how many people would get spooked out, it would be so funny.
